When: Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00PM, March 5th through April 9th, 2025
Where: Co_Lab, 2209 Maryland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218 (around the corner from Sophomore Coffee)
Instructor: Molly Horton Booth (they/she)
Course Description: "Introduction to Academic Writing" will serve as an introduction to writing and academic thinking. We'll talk about writing, practice writing, and de-mystify critical thinking, all with the aim of building confidence. My teaching philosophy is all about making knowledge accessible and engaging -- learning should always be interesting and fun! Students can expect to cover a range of topics from the nitty-gritty of grammar and spelling to building an argument or narrative. I truly love these subjects, and my aim is to help students enjoy them too. Their new skills will be applicable to many academic endeavors (clear writing is useful for any subject!), but also in general self-expression and communication.
Tuition: $200. Payment plans available -- just shoot me an email to chat

Inclusivity: Same Page is inclusive, open, and welcoming to all and respects/celebrates diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc. The teacher (me) is someone who identifies as trans/non-binary

Homeschoolers: Academic Writing 101
Who: For high school homeschool writers, in approx. age/learning stages of grades 9-12th. Enrollment is capped at eight students
When: Thursdays, 2:30-4PM, 8 weeks from March 10th through May 5th, 2025 (no class April 14 for "spring break")
Where: Co_Lab, 2209 Maryland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218 (around the corner from Sophomore Coffee)
Instructor: Molly Horton Booth (they/she)
Course Description: What is academic writing anyway? Let's figure it out. "Academic Writing 101" introduces and interrogates traditional academic English/writing concepts and skills from a flexible, personal and creative learning perspective. This class will cover a wide range of topics with dual goals of preparing homeschooling students to write in more formal academic environments and (just as important) building confidence. The AW101 curriculum is partially from my syllabi as a college writing instructor, and it approaches grammar, spelling, and usage, as well as research, paragraph structure, essay drafting, and more. All levels of writing experience welcome, and no prior experience with English classes is required. As a former K-12 myself, my teaching philosophy is rooted in making knowledge accessible and engaging. Students will finish the course with an essay -- in the style, genre, format, and topic of their choosing -- to add to their homeschool writing portfolio
Tuition: $250. Payment plans available -- just shoot me an email to chat ([email protected])
