High Schoolers: The College Essay Jumpstart
Who: For high school students approaching the process of applying to college. Enrollment is capped at eight writers.
When: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00PM, for six weeks: June 25th through July 30th, 2025.
Where: Co_Lab, 2209 Maryland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218 (around the corner from Sophomore Coffee)
Instructor: Molly Horton Booth
Course Description: Writing your college essay can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be. This workshop is designed to help students find their story and tell it in a way that’s honest, compelling, and true to who they are. We’ll start by brainstorming ideas and exploring what makes a strong personal statement. Then we’ll move into drafting, revising, and reflecting, step by step, with plenty of support along the way. Students will leave the course with a strong start: One or more solid drafts, as well as the tools they need to keep polishing with confidence. Whether they’re just getting started or feeling stuck, this workshop helps get the ball rolling.
